We’re very excited about the redevelopment of the Cowes Cultural and Community Centre that involves replacing the existing Centre and library facilities. The new facility brings together the cultural and social aspirations of the community and draws visitors in to showcase the history and culture of the region and will encourage a range of community activities and events.
The construction cost for the new Cowes Cultural and Community Centre is $27.2 million and is designed by Jackson Clements Burrows Architects (JCBA) to Passivhaus Standards, making it the most environmentally significant building in the region.
Along with brand new library facilities, the current design houses a number of functions including:
- Museum
- Theatre and associated change rooms
- Function/meeting rooms
- Community Kitchen
- Visitor information/customer service
- Café / Box office
- Community Enterprise space
- Gallery
- Grand Hall
- Amenities
- Storage Offices
- Genealogy and Historical Society
