Madi is a student at a local Gippsland high school and participated in work experience at Myli – My Community Library in 2025.
“I decided to call my local library about work experience because I like to read in my spare time, and I prefer quieter places since I struggle with social anxiety, so I was feeling anxious about it. When I got there, all my worries immediately went away as they welcomed me into their team and showed me around and how everything works. The staff there are very kind, helpful, and inclusive. They didn’t pressure me into anything right away, so I could ease into the work.
I participated in the Storytime and Baby Rhyme Time session in the morning and loved watching everyone dance and sing along together. The next day, I joined the Collections department and had lots of fun with the team. We sorted out books, printing, and retrieved books. After that, I went and met with the Marketing department. The staff there were very kind and helpful.
Overall, I had an amazing time working here. It’s taught me what it’s like to have a job and what it’s like in the real world. I’m so grateful to have my first experience of work at the Myli library.”
