Our Services – Ancestry & Local History

The Collection –

Myli’s archive collection consists of an estimated 15,000-20,000 items currently temporarily housed off-site in Cranbourne. Please note, the archive is available to visit by appointment only.

The archive houses items relating to the history and heritage of people, places, organisations, and local government in the Cardinia Shire.

Myli is working hard on digitising its local history collection for public access. You can view digitised items online at Victorian Collections.

Donations –

Myli is always willing to accept archival donations from members of the public who wish to preserve their family and local history.

When contacting Myli about a potential donation to the archives, please provide a photo of the item(s).

Please note, we can only accept items relating to the history of the Cardinia region. The Literacy Librarian – Local History and Genealogy reserves the right to decline donations if they do not fit our Collections Policy.

Research –

If you need assistance with your own family or local history research, the Myli Literacy Librarian – Local History and Genealogy is available for free one-on-one appointments (1 hour each) to assist you on your journey. These appointments are available at Pakenham Library or online.

Please note, the Literacy Librarian will direct you to resources and organisations that may house the information you are looking for, but cannot conduct research on your behalf.

Contact Us –

If you have items relating to the collection, donations or would like to book a one-on-one appointment or request to visit the archive, please contact localhistory@myli.org.au.
