Home Library Service Update

Home Library Service Update

Do you know someone who can’t get to the library anymore, or can’t come to visit us due to a change in their personal circumstances?

Here at Myli, we’ve been working on rolling out a very special, personalised Home Library Service (HLS) for people who may not be able to visit their local library in person.  We’ve been slowly engaging new volunteers from our community, to deliver materials to our patrons who may be homebound for varied reasons.

Sometimes our patrons are not able to visit their favourite branch due to a mobility concern, or they may even be temporarily homebound after major surgery.  There can be other reasons too why people can’t go to their local library, and our new ‘Home Library Service’ is a great way to bring your library direct to you when you most need it.  We keep an open mind about why you or someone you may know may need to access HLS.

We have volunteers currently operational or very nearly ‘ready-go-to’ at Inverloch, Wonthaggi, Foster, Drouin, San Remo and Phillip Island area, and soon to be Mirboo North!  Our volunteers love reading and libraries themselves, and enjoy helping people to maintain a relationship with their library. Our volunteers can also deliver items to aged care and other residential settings.  Our  Inverloch and Wonthaggi volunteers are especially keen for us to have some more HLS members for them to visit, so please contact us if you or someone you know could benefit from HLS deliveries.

Please note, our team and volunteers follow covid-safe practices.  For further information, you can ask at your library, or email volunteers@myli.org.au or call 1800 446954.
