After extended lockdowns, it’s time to come back to the library and experience a wide range of services and programs to enrich your life.
Filmed at library services across Victoria by Public Libraries Victoria, the Return Yourself to the Library campaign launches on Tuesday 29th March showcasing the services public libraries offer to those in the community, inside and out of the physical library, as well as highlighting the inclusive and welcoming space that is your local library.
COVID-19 presented new challenges to the delivery of library services. While many libraries continued to provide for their communities digitally and through contactless deliveries and Click and Collect, the community has missed out on the personal connection that libraries provide. According to the PwC Australia Citizen Survey 2020, 35% of Australians’ mental wellbeing was negatively impacted by the lack of in-person interactions during COVID-19, and Swinburne University of Technology’s Survey of Health and Wellbeing – Monitoring the Impact of COVID-19 reported that 1 in 2 Australian residents reported feeling lonelier since COVID-19 (54%).
Libraries are welcoming the community back into the library and providing extensive services and programs that enrich the lives of the community.
