School Holiday Fun in Bass Coast

Registration opens Monday 5th September.

Spring is fast approaching, and so are the school holidays! The team at Myli – My Community Library has been working hard to put together a program of events at your local library and there really is something for everyone! Let’s take a look at some of the free events on offer at your local library –   

Inverloch Library

Pet Rocks @ Inverloch LibraryMon, 19 Sep 11:00 AM 

Create your own family of pet rocks to take home! Get creative this school holidays and join us for a fun, free activity. 

Feathers, Fur & Scales: Wildlife in the Inverloch Library! Mon, 26 Sep 11:00 AM 

Explore the differences between feathered, furry and scaly creatures. This show is a tactile experience and children get up hands-on with our amazing native animals. Discover what it feels like to touch the fur of a possum or the scales of a turtle. Everyone will get an up-close look at one of our hand-raised marsupials, cheeky rainforest parrot, freshwater turtle, shingleback lizard, goanna, pythons, and even a crocodile! Learn about what they eat, where they live and more. 

Glass Jar Art @ Inverloch Library Wed, 28 Sep 2:30 PM 

Bring the kids along to Inverloch Library for a fun, recycling glass jars into lanterns and works of art. Create an attractive design for your jar and we will add a light to create your bespoke lantern.  

Japanese Koi Windsock @ Inverloch LibraryThu, 29 Sep 10:30 AM 

Make your own papercraft Japanese Koi windsock. Be creative – colour, snip and glue your very own Japanese Koi wall hanging. 

San Remo Library

Slime Time! at San Remo LibraryWed, 21 Sep 2:00 PM 

Join us for some messy science fun. Learn how to make your own slime. Then squish the slime!

Build a Marble Run – San Remo LibraryMon, 26 Sep 11:00 AM 

Using cardboard, plastic and other recycled materials we will build marble runs and then test them. Come along, build and compete for fun!

Wave of Change with Phillip Island Library – Tue, 27 Sep 10:00 AM

Meg Humphrys, local author has published a new book, Wave of Change, building on her beautiful debut, CBCA shortlisted, When Water Lost Her Way. Join Meg and friends, for an event that encourages children to move, create and reflect on their power to change their planet for good. Meg will read her new book, a yoga and movement activity based on the water cycle and a reflective art journey.

Learn some basic macrame knots and keep what you create.

Join Phillip Island library at St John’s Uniting Church for some messy science fun. Learn how to make your own slime. Then squish the slime.

Sandra will show you how to cut out a felt template, sew blanket stitch and fill your heart! You might want to sew a button, do cross stitch or embroidery as well. This will involve needlework so is open to ages 5 +. For beginners to confident sewers.
