Ava is a Year 10 student at a local Gippsland high school. She participated in work experience at Myli – My Community Library in June 2024 and kindly wrote an update for the Myli News blog about her time with us.
“During this week I have done numerous tasks at the Warragul and Drouin libraries for work experience. I’ve learnt a lot about how the libraries work and how different they are to how I originally viewed them, a lot happens behind the scenes at libraries. I’ve learnt that the books aren’t just placed in the order of their titles, like for the non-fiction they go via numbers, while fiction is the last name of the author. I also learnt a bit about how the programs run at the libraries and even got the opportunity to see how StoryTime works. There are these vans that transport books to different libraries that are in the same branch. I learnt how the books are organised for delivery and also about the branches, they are found throughout Gippsland and there are many Myli libraries. Overall, my time at the library for work experience so far has been amazing and I am grateful that I was able to get the chance to work there.”
