We’re excited to announce that our Virtual Reality (VR) headsets have a permanent home at the Wonthaggi Library branch. Come in during business hours to experience another world through a VR headset.
Virtual reality is the term used to describe a three-dimensional, computer generated environment that can be explored and interacted with by a person using a virtual reality headset.
We have a number of games and experiences, and will be adding to our collection over time. You can play interactive games, and ‘visit’ various places, including an Antarctic research station and a medieval castle. Our most popular games/experiences are –
It is permanently set up in a designated space towards the back of the library.
VR is not recommended for people under the age of 13.
You will get a minimum of 30 minutes with the headset. When someone else is waiting, the player is informed and asked to finish up within the next half hour. The equipment can only be used during library business hours.
We are currently only taking bookings for groups visiting the library. Please be advised that there may be a wait time during busy periods, including the school holidays.
All VR equipment, including the mask and hand controllers, is wiped down with antibacterial wipes after each use.
Yes! You’ll need to visit the service desk to check out the VR controllers for in-branch use. The VR equipment and games cannot be checked out for use outside of the library branch.
