Open Access at San Remo Community Library gives you the freedom to explore the library between 8 am and 8 pm every day, seven days a week. This means you can read, learn, and enjoy the library’s resources at your convenience, fitting into your busy schedule.
Open Access membership is available for library members aged 18 years or older, eligibility criteria apply.

With the reopening of the Phillip Island library, the extended hours at San Remo Community Library will return to the regular staffed hours.

Weekly Storytime for families on Mondays at 11am will start on Monday 27 November. Join us for engaging stories, delightful songs, and creative crafts tailored for children aged 0-5. The entire family is encouraged to participate and enjoy the fun-filled activities!

At San Remo Community Library, families can enjoy our regular, interactive family Storytime sessions, designed to inspire young minds and foster a love for reading.
Inside, we provide essential resources to keep you connected and informed. Enjoy free access to public computers and WiFi, ensuring you can access online materials and information effortlessly. Printing and copying services are readily available at a small cost to assist with your document needs.
In November, we are making some exciting new changes to make the library accessible 7 days a week, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM with an Open Access membership. This means you can explore our extensive collection, engage in quiet reading, study, or work, all at your convenience, even during evenings and weekends. Borrowing books and materials is made simple with our self-checkout machine, operational during our open access hours.
For those keen on staying informed, our library offers a selection of local newspapers. For your convenience the library also provides, an external returns chute, accessible toilet access, and a baby change area for your convenience. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive and welcoming space for everyone in the San Remo community.

The new Phillip Island Library is located 17km from San Remo Community Library within the Bass Coast Council Shire. It’s a place where you can learn and connect with others in your community.
The building was designed by renowned architects called Jackson Clements Burrows Architects (JCB) and our library offers a welcoming space that is easy to use for everyone. We’re also introducing 24/7 membership soon where you can become a member and access the library anytime, outside of staffed library hours.
Inside, we have something for everyone. Kids can explore our children’s library, while teenagers can have fun in the gaming area. If you need a quiet place to work or have Zoom meetings, we’ve got special booths for that. Plus, there are plenty of comfy seats, free Wi-Fi, and computers for you to use.
And there’s more to our library than just books. It’s also a place to connect with your community. You can find things like the local museum, theatre, meeting rooms, gallery, and the Genealogy and Historical Society. You can also get travel advice at the Visitor Information and support from the Bass Coast Council Customer Service, all located conveniently in the same building.
