Human Libraries – Korumburra Library

December 6, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Overview
Let a life touch yours through sharing stories. Come and listen to the lives of people seeking refuge in Australia, in their own words.

Following the successful Human Libraries events throughout West Gippsland Libraries in June 21 Refugee Week, we have again teamed with the Gippsland Multicultural Strategic Plan Partnership Group to host diverse people in our communities to share their stories.

Human Libraries are a concept given direction by people in Denmark with their objective being to únjudge someone’. This is the spirit of these gatherings.

Volunteers from our multiculturally diverse community, supported by a facilitator will share their story around a dinner table or lounge type arrangement, with plenty of time for questions and reflections. Sharing stories can be life affirming for the teller and a journey somewhere new for the listener. Refreshments will be provided (also life affirming!).

Únity, the way forward’ happens when human beings meet each other , and acknowledge our human experiences. Let’s celebrate and value life!

Book your attendance now!

Victorian Government COVID safe directions will be followed. Please ring your library and cancel your booking if you are unwell, as early as possible. We appreciate early notification if bookings need to be cancelled for any reason.

The Gippsland Multicultural Strategic Plan Partnership Group includes: Latrobe Community Health Service as the lead agency partnered by the Centre for Multicultural Youth, Gippsland Ethnics Communities Council and Latrobe City Council. They are funded through the Victorian Department of Premier and Cabinet under the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship.
