Rural Women Online is an IT program created by women for women!
In the last two years, various research and evidence has emerged that speaks to the barriers experienced by women in rural and remote areas to online participation. Upskilling rural women with digital literacy skills has been a pressing need in the state of Victoria for decades, with ‘geographical isolation’ and the ‘digital divide’ now recognised as critical obstacles for women living in remote and rural areas.
Whether you’re a beginner or want to advance your IT skills, we encourage you to attend the Open Day at Wonthaggi Library on Wednesday 31st August at 10am. Hear from guest speakers, use a range of devices to learn helpful tech tricks and share a cuppa with other women in your community.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or want to grow your current IT skillset. This program can help you access healthcare, shop online, understand online safety and security, navigate social media safely, as well as learn how to access forums, podcasts, music, and videos for intellectual and social nourishment.
Rural Women Online was developed as the growing gap in the digital divide was disadvantaging women who reside in rural and remote Victoria. The digital world provides opportunities for greater economic participation, enhanced social connectivity, and gives real choices to women to live and work independently. So let’s get connected!
