Upcycle Fashion Workshop with Denise Stringer at Korumburra Library

July 2, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 4:30 pm

Overview
UK Fashion Designer Denise Stringer will demonstrate upcycling techniques and lead you through your own project created during the workshop

People registering for this workshop will be interested in learning power tips to add and change existing garments to create their own personal style.

Denise will bring over 25 years experience as a fashion designer and garment creator to demonstrate and lead 10 creators and their assistants through their own projects throughout the day.

Registered participants (creators) need to bring items of clothing that are a good fit for them to use as their starting point for their upcycle project. The items may be deconstructed and reconstructed in the upcycle workshop. Bring a number of garments to keep design options open.

Participants (creators) will bring with them a sewing machine, basic sewing equipment like fabric scissors, bobbins, pins, a quick unpick, thimble and a measuring tape. Community volunteers are available to pair with creators who do not have this equipment. The library will provide work stations, irons and ironing tables, and a fitting room.

Bring someone to help! Register an assistant willing to assist with pinning, fitting garments, sewing and providing encouragement! Assistants can be the same age or older than the creator.

The session will be inclusive and achievable for all participants.

Participants are welcome to talk to the staff of Recycle Upcycle shop ‘Into the Rabbit Hole’ in Korumburra to get ideas and suggestions for their upcycle project prior to the workshop.
