Mental Health and Well-Being Blog: April 2021

Embrace Multicultural Mental Health (The Embrace Project) is run by Mental Health Australia and provides a national focus on mental health and suicide prevention for people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.

It provides a national platform for Australian mental health services and gives multicultural communities access to resources, services and information in a culturally accessible format.

The Embrace Project builds on the important work of previous national multicultural mental health projects and works towards an equitable mental health system that reflects and responds well to the needs of Australia’s multicultural population’.

The key objectives of the project are to increase participation, awareness and access to mental health services and providers for people from CALD backgrounds.

The Mayo Clinic says that deep breathing not only helps in times of stress but can also benefit by balancing the autonomic nervous system which helps regulate involuntary bodily functions. It can also help to improve posture, alleviate stress and induce a good nights sleep.

Check out this article from PositivePsychology.com on the power of deep breathing and all its benefits. The article includes worksheets, links to TED talks and instructions on how to get started.
