Opening Week Events at Phillip Island Library

Opening Week Events at Phillip Island Library

We’re excited to walk you through the highlights of our recent opening week at the new Phillip Island Library. It’s been a whirlwind of activities, and we can’t wait to tell you all about it.

StoryTime Session with Author Andrea Rowe

On the grand opening day, we kicked things off with a StoryTime session featuring author, Andrea Rowe. Andrea, assisted by eager members of our audience, graced us with readings from her two books, ‘Jetty Jumping’ and ‘Sunday Skating.’ It was a magical start to our journey in this beautiful space!

Places We Imagine – Author Panel Discussion

The very next evening, we had a thought-provoking author panel discussion at the Berninneit Cultural Centre. Three brilliant contemporary authors—Ava Dunn, Lisa Moule, and Josephine Rowe—led us on a literary adventure into the role of place in fiction. They shared how place influences their writing, shapes their storytelling, and brings their stories to life. Led by Myli Programs Officer, Sarah, it was an insightful exploration of the power of fictional settings in the world of literature.

The Flying Bookworm Theatre Company

Saturday was all about pure magic! The Flying Bookworm Theatre Company took the stage and brought books to life, igniting the imaginations of parents and children alike. This interactive journey encouraged a love for reading through the enchantment of theatre. It was a treat for the whole family, right here in our new library space.

Berninneit Book Chat

To wrap up the exciting week, we hosted the Berninneit Book Chat—a social gathering with a warm cuppa, perfect for connecting with fellow readers, discovering your next literary love and getting fantastic book recommendations from our friendly librarians.

The opening week at the Phillip Island Library has been a remarkable journey, and we couldn’t have done it without our amazing community. Stay tuned for more fantastic events and activities as we continue this adventure together. See you at the library!
