Thrifty Gardening at Pakenham Library with Millie Ross

Thrifty Gardening at Pakenham Library with Millie Ross

Myli hosted an event with renowned horticulturist, garden designer, writer and broadcaster, Millie Ross on Saturday 14 October. With an impressive turnout of over 130 attendees, Millie shared her refreshing perspective on gardening, emphasising the importance of ‘having a go’ and letting nature be your guide on your gardening journey. The event featured a photographic showcase of Millie’s experiences in landscaping various garden types and pictures of people and places from her travels overseas. Her presentation was not only inspiring but also informative, and the audience was delighted with her tales and practical advice.

Adding to the event’s success were stallholders from local garden and sustainability groups. Among the participants were the Cardinia Shire Environmental Education and Waste Management teams, as well as representatives from the Cardinia Community Gardens network, encompassing Pakenham, Garfield, Cockatoo, and Koo Wee Rup community gardens. Local independent grower Jo was also present, providing valuable insights and resources for the gardening community. Millie Ross also spent time chatting with stallholders and attendees, enthusiastically joined in the Little Green Thumbs Club activity and explored Pakenham Library’s Discovery Garden. Patrons left the event with newfound gardening knowledge and a renewed enthusiasm for nurturing green spaces.
