Welcome back to Warm Winter Read, the program that invites you to embrace the joy of reading during the colder months. As the temperature drops, it’s the perfect time to cosy up with a good book and dedicate a few moments each day to immerse yourself in a captivating story. By participating, you not only enrich your reading experience but also stand a chance to win fantastic bookish prizes! If you’re uncertain about which book to choose, your local librarian is eagerly waiting to assist you in finding your next great read!

Registration and Resources – 

To participate in Warm Winter Read 2023, you can register and activate your challenges using the convenient Beanstack app, ensuring easy access to all the program resources. Alternatively, visit your local library branch to pick up a Reading Journal and a selection of Warm Winter Read bookmarks. Warm Winter Read is designed for participants aged 16+. 

 

2023 Reading Challenges –

Challenge yourself and make the most of your reading experience during Warm Winter Read 2023. Participate in the following reading challenges and join the online conversation using the hashtag #WarmWinterRead. Challenges are not compulsory but are designed to keep you inspired and motivated! 

  1. Create a Cosy Reading Spot: Find or create a comfortable nook where you can indulge in your favourite books, complete with blankets, pillows, and a warm beverage.

  2. Read Aloud to a Person, Pet, or Plant: Share the joy of reading by engaging with a loved one, furry friend, or even a potted plant. 

  3. Start a New Series or Continue an Existing One: Dive into a new series that has caught your eye, or pick up the next book in a series you’re already invested in. 

  4. Recommend a Book You Loved: Spread the love for your favourite books by sharing recommendations with friends, family, or fellow book enthusiasts. You can do this in person or through online platforms and communities.

  5. Listen to an Audiobook while Multitasking: Embrace the versatility of audiobooks by enjoying them while engaging in other activities like cooking, exercising, or commuting. 

  6. Read a Book Set in a Dream Destination: Transport yourself to far-off lands and exotic locales through the pages of a book. Choose a story set in a place you’ve always wanted to visit, and let your imagination whisk you away.

Warm Winter Reads dates – 

Warm Winter Reads runs from Thursday 1 June to Thursday 31 August 2023.  All entry forms must be submitted by Sunday 10 September 2023.

Let us inspire you – 

Collect bookmarks from your local library branch with recommended reads from Victorian authors including Paul Dalgarno, Larissa Behrendt, Katherine Kovacic, Robbie Arnott and Victoria Hannan.

By entering the Warm Winter Read Prize Draw patrons acknowledge that their details, including name and library borrower number, will be required.
