Nate is a student at a local Gippsland high school and participated in work experience at Myli – My Community Library in 2023.
My name is Nate and I’ve been doing work experience at the Wonthaggi Library on Friday afternoons. Before I started at the library, I didn’t realise how many different things go on at libraries. I had no idea about book clubs, or that you could borrow dvd’s or surfboards. I also wasn’t aware of how connected my local library was to so many other libraries.
Working at the library has reaffirmed my feeling that libraries are great places. They are great for accessing knowledge, as well as hanging out and relaxing.
I find the day-to-day library work straightforward and enjoyable. There’s nothing I haven’t enjoyed – it’s been simple, entertaining, relaxing and at the same time full of activity. Work experience at the library has helped me to improve my social skills and my knowledge of Wonthaggi.
