Our wonderful Friends of the Corner Inlet Library (FOCIL) group continues to make a big impact, both through their fundraising and direct support for our collections. Their bi-annual book sales contribute significantly to their funds, which they’ve utilised to donate new Library of Things items, as well as expand Myli’s DVD collection.
Earlier this year, FOCIL reviewed our 2024 survey of new Library of Things (LOT) ideas and offered to help bring some of those items to life. They worked with our Collections team to pledge $4,200 for specific kits. If any of the chosen kits prove tricky to source, the funds will go toward similar, more accessible alternatives. The first new additions to the Library of Things were a Spot Cleaner and a Sewing Machine, both of which were popular suggestions.
FOCIL also donated $2,000 to expand the DVD collection at the Foster branch. We recently celebrated with a display featuring Chris Kemper and Christine McKinlay (pictured above).
FOCIL will continue their fundraising efforts at their upcoming Book Sale, hosted on Friday 11 July and Saturday 12 July at the Foster War Memorial Arts Centre. All proceeds from the Book Sale will go towards enhancing our library services.
We’re incredibly grateful for FOCIL’s ongoing support. Their contributions help us build richer, more responsive collections for our communities.
