Justice of the Peace service

Justice of the Peace service

A Justice of the Peace provides a free service to all members of the community and acts as an independent witness to documents that are used for official or legal purposes. Their services primarily include:

  • attesting to the execution of a document
  • witnessing a statutory declaration
  • witnessing an affidavit for use in court
  • certifying true copies of an original document
  • certifying a person’s identity

This is a free service to members of the community, and an appointment is not required. Please note that the JP services do not operate on public holidays or if the library is closed. Please note that library staff cannot witness or certify documents.

Justice of the Peace document signing stations operate from the following locations –

Warragul Library

  • Monday 10am -2pm
  • Tuesday & Wedensday 10am – 6pm
  • Thursday & Friday 10am – 2pm

Pakenham Library

  • Tuesday 10am – 2pm
  • Wednesday 9.30am – 2.30pm and 5pm – 7pm
  • Friday 10am – 2pm
