The team at Wonthaggi Library recently received a donation of 50 trauma teddies, knitted by the Close Knit knitting group. These teddies will be donated to organisations in our local community.
Trauma Teddies provide care in so many ways:
– friendly security in hospital
– company in a speeding ambulance
– a warm welcome to refugee children
– a friend for children impacted by bushfires
– a happy face at a lonely time.
The knitting pattern for trauma teddies can be found on the Red Cross Australia website.
‘Close Knit’ meets every Thursday at the Wonthaggi Library branch between 1pm – 4pm, and new members are warmly welcomed. The group knit and crochet various items such as scarves, hats, teddies and blankets from yarn donated to the library. These items are then distributed to local charities to assist with the community’s needs. The group also brings along items they are working on personally; they love the companionship of knitting in a group!
The group is also seeking donations of wool and knitting needles. These items can be dropped off at the library branch at any time.
