If you are a fan of fantasy books, you might have seen the amazing illustrations of Marc McBride, the artist behind the covers of the Deltora Quest series and many other novels. Marc is not only a talented illustrator, but also a generous teacher who shares his skills and tips with aspiring artists.
Marc joined us for workshops at Drouin and Warragul during the April school holidays. The workshops were open to participants aged between 12-25, and we were joined by avid fans of Marc’s work and others who were interested in learning how to draw.
Marc’s workshops were an excellent platform to encourage individuality and creativity while providing guidance on the art of drawing. He was incredibly encouraging, ensuring that everyone had a go and gave their best effort. Participants were free to bring their pencils, paper, and books to have signed.
At the end of the workshop, Marc surprised us with a special gift: he presented the library with a signed painting that he had completed during the session using an airbrush and food dye. We can’t wait to display this amazing piece in the branch as a reminder of the creativity and talent on display during the session! Thank you to Marc for sharing your talent and passion with us.
Marc is the illustrator of Emily Rodda’s New York Times Bestselling Deltora Quest series. It’s sold over eighteen million copies around the world and has become an Anime TV show.
